There's no specific law requiring PAT testing by that name, but the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to ensure all electrical equipment is safe. PAT testing is the recognised way to demonstrate compliance and is often required by insurers.
Frequency depends on the type of equipment and environment. Therapy devices used regularly in a clinical setting are generally recommended to be tested annually. Office equipment may be tested every 2–4 years. We can advise the right schedule for your practice.
